Protest to free Alaa outside British Embassy Berlin | 31 May 2025

Protesters gathered in solidarity with Laila Soueif on hunger strike for nine months for the release of her son Alaa Abdel Fattah, Egypt's most well known prisoner of conscience.

Protest outside British Embassy calling for the release of Alaa Abdel Fattah, a British citizen illegally and illegitimately imprisoned by Egypt's regime. Protesters leave messages in solidarity with Laila Soueif, who has been on hunger strike for months and is in critical condition asking for her son's release. A promise to get him released is currently being broken by the British government, by Kier Stammer and David Lammy, and previously Rishi Sunak.

My heart breaks for the injustices suffered by Alaa Abd El Fattah and his family. What more can a mother do? Laila Soueif has put her life on the line in exchange for Alaa's.

All my love to Sanaa Seif and Mona Seif for their struggle for the basics, freedom for a brother held hostage, and endurance as their mother fights for her son.
